The commitment to diversity is in our DNA and it is a core value at Blaney McMurtry. One of our named partners, the late Bill McMurtry, was involved in anti-racism and diversity work long before many others.
Blaney McMurtry’s commitment to Diversity and Inclusion is reflected in our underlying foundations (e.g. a formal diversity and inclusions policy), our formal Diversity and Inclusion Committee (chaired by Corporate Partner Sundeep Sandhu) and by our actions such as:
- We are a member of the Law Firm Diversity and Inclusion Network (“LFDIN”), a group of Canadian law firms who have agreed to work together to promote diversity and encourage a culture of inclusion in their firms and the broader legal profession. LFDIN members believe that valuing and enhancing diversity and inclusion will help us attract and retain the best talent and better serve our clients’ needs. - Bill McMurtry was a co-founder of the Investing in Our Diversity Scholarships Program with Kevin Lee from the Scadding Court Community Centre and our firm continues to support the program to this day by funding two annual scholarships. Click here to read more about the program.
Blaney McMurtry remains committed to reflecting the diversity of backgrounds and cultures that make up our community and our client base. By fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and included, we strengthen our firm and are able to provide the broadest scope of strategic advice to our clients.
Our firm has been recognized with the following diversity & inclusion related industry awards:
