The Ontario Bar Association's Institute is Canada's largest CPD event, and connects thought leaders, visionaries and the larger legal community to discover innovative ideas, engage in lively discussions and learn fresh approaches to the challenges facing today's lawyer. This year, two of our partners are giving presentations in their respective areas of practice:
David Ullmann, Program Co-Chair of the Insolvency Law section, is presenting 'Intellectual Property and Insolvency Law' on the 'What's New and Notable in the World of Insolvency Law?' panel along with Alexandra Teodorescu. This expert panel will discuss and analyze the treatment of intellectual property assets which become trapped in insolvency, including the sale of trademarked goods by a liquidator/trustee, the termination of licence agreements, and issues with the sale of intellectual property assets.
Bruno Soucy will be speaking to the Information Technology & Intellectual Property Law section in their 'The Internet of Things and Connected Payments' program. Bruno's presentation, 'Critical Considerations in App Development and Licensing', will touch on distinguishing between app and data: who owns what? What are the relevant standards, specifications and certifications; and key licensing terms to master. His presentation will be followed by a Q&A.
